The objectives of this course are to overcome an aversion to things electrical, and to teach students how to design simple but effective electronic circuits. We start from Ohm's law and develop voltage dividers, RC circuits, analog circuits, digital logic and Boolean algebra. Students learn how to design active filters and digital circuits. A comprehensive design project is given at the end of the semester.
This course is a prerequisite for BIOE 471, Biological Control Systems, BIOE 456, Bioinstrumentation, and is helpful for BIOE 332, Biological Process Engineering (formerly ENBE 454).
